Beverage Taxes

In June 2016, Philadelphia made history by becoming the largest U.S. city to pass a sugary drink tax. The policy imposes a tax of 1.5 cents per fluid ounce on both sugary and diet drinks. One of the PEACH lab’s long-term research goals is to comprehensively understand the effects of sugary drink taxes on food industry responses, consumer behavior, and health outcomes.
